CB… Ukulele
Creating a 3-string cigar box ukulele is a unique and creative project that can be done with a few simple materials. In this project, you will take a small cigar box and transform it into a fully functioning musical instrument, complete with custom pickups and tuners.
The first step is to cut the wooden plank left from another CBG project to size and attach it to the cigar box to create the neck of the ukulele.
Next, assemble the pickups using the copper coil, sewing machine bobbins, and neodymium magnets. These pickups will allow you to amplify the sound of the instrument when plugged into an amplifier or PA system.
Install the tuners onto the end of the neck and thread the strings through the cigar box and onto the tuners. It is important to tune each string accurately, as this will greatly impact the sound of the instrument.
Finally, install the input jack so that you can plug the cigar box ukulele into an amplifier or PA system. Give the instrument a final sanding to smooth out any rough spots, and the cigar box ukulele is ready to be played!
This project is a great way to repurpose leftovers from other projects and create a unique and environmentally friendly musical instrument. The vintage look and sound of the cigar box ukulele is sure to turn heads and impress your friends and family. So grab those materials and get to work on your own cigar box ukulele today!
